The State Championship entry form has been revised.  Changes and clarifications are:
1)  Correction to years of birth for separating age groups and limiting choking in the Juvenile A&B category.
2)  Clarification that Senior Novice is defined as minimum 17 years old AND below brown belt rank.

The tournament site  for the 42nd Annual Northglenn Judo Championship has been changed (the headquarters hotel remains unchanged).
The new site is: Legacy High School; 2701 West 136th Avenue, Broomfield, Colo.; This school is newer (opened in 2000) than the previous tournament site and is located just west of Zuni St. on 136th Ave. and is approximately 1.7 miles west of I-25 and 136th Ave. (exit 225).

A new feature of the 42nd Northglenn Championship is that the headquarters hotel will provide free breakfast to all guests who are attending the tournament.  A revised entry form is available click here or view event schedule.

• For Wednesday evening at Denver Judo, Athletes 12 years of age and under should come from 5:30 – 7:00 PM; all others from 7-9 PM.
• For Thursday evening at Hyland Hills, athletes 12 years of age and under should come from 6:30-8:00 PM; all others from 8:00-10:00 PM.

Via US 6 (6th Avenue): Go west on 6th Avenue until  reaching the stop light at 19th Street in Golden. Turn right onto 19th Street. Take the first left onto Elm Street and proceed just past the intramural fields on your left. The Student Rec Center is on your right and there is parking on your left just past the IM field.

Via I-70: Go west on I-70 and take Highway 58 (exit 265) west to Golden (just past Ward Road). Proceed to the 3-way intersection of Hwy 58, US 6, and Hwy 93 (from Boulder). Turn left onto US 6 and then left onto 19th Street (1st stop light).

The New York Open, traditionally held in March, has moved to October for 2010. The original date was listed as October 23, but that date has been changed to Saturday, October 16, 2010.

CONGRATULATIONS TO COLORADO JUDO COMPETITORS!!  65 competitors were on the bus ride to the Dallas Invitational Tournament held on Saturday, November 21.  There were 600+ competitors at the tournament and of 65 players from Colorado, 43 brought home medals.  A total of 80 athletes, coaches, and parents from Colorado attended the event--we have much to be proud of coming together for this great state endeavor. Thanks and congratulations to everyone for your participation!! Pat Nading-Amman, President, CJL

The Denver Classic on October 24, 2009 will be a Fight to Win All-Star points tournament.  The highest ranking male and female senior judo athlete on the Fight to Win All-Star roster as of 1/30/2010 will receive funding to attend the USA Judo Senior National Championships, scheduled for May of 2010.  Winners will receive the following points:
Absolute/Open Division Winner - 5 points
1st place, senior advanced division - 3 points
2nd place, senior advanced division - 2 points
3rd place, senior advanced division - 1 point

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED for the International Blind Sports Association Pan American Games to be held Saturday, July 18 at the US Olympic Training Center.  There are 2 shifts – 9:30am – 2:00pm and 2:00pm – 6:00pm.  I need2010 people per shift!!  All volunteers will receive a tournament t-shirt and lunch at the venue. Come see some of the premiere visually impaired athletes in the world compete!!
I need 2 people per shift who are experienced bracket keepers.  Others will keep time, score, use the computerized scoring system (point and click), etc.

A revised entry form for the 2009 Kickoff Tournament is posted.  Revisions/Clarifications/Reminders are as follows:
1) Definition of Novice is modified;

Online Registration is now available for the OTC Classic, scheduled for May 9th, in Colorado Springs has added

CJL has scheduled it’s next meeting for Sunday, May 24, 2009, 1-4 PM; in the CR Bank Room East at the Castle Rock Library, Castle Rock, CO.

The Colorado Judo League State Championships will be held on June 6th at the Northglenn Recreation Center.  An entry form will be available soon.

A team of 20 junior athletes from Tahiti will be in the Colorado April 8th to the 11th.  They will be training at clubs and participating in the Northglenn Championship according to the following schedule:
Wed, April 8:  Training at Denver Dojo; 7-9 PM (everyone is invited to participate)
Thurs, April 9: Training at Ju Shin Kan, Colo. Springs, 5:30 – 7:00 PM  (everyone is invited to participate)
Sat, April 11:  Compete in 41st annual Northglenn Championship.

To all Club Coaches:  Trophies that were not awarded at the Hyland Hills Throwdown event will be available at the March 28th Colorado Classic in Colo. Springs and the April 11th Northglenn Championship.  Please contact Kari Gabrielle at these events to obtain your trophies.

The Tournament scheduled for March 28th in Colorado Springs has been renamed the First Colorado Springs Classic and will be held at the Pikes Peak Christian School in Colorado Springs.  A complete entry package can be found on the Event Schedule.

Denver Judo will hold a fundraiser at the dojo on April 4th.  The evening will feature a comedy show by hypnotist Steven Mills.  Learn more about the show in this flyer.

Announcing a summer International Judo Camp to be held June 8-14 at the YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch between Winter Park and Granby.  A link to details can be found on the Event Schedule.  The camp is open to all skill levels.

The written test contained within the CJL Promotion Guide (link at the bottom of the Promotion Info page) has been modified to reflect the competition rule changes that came into effect on January 1, 2009.

Registration for the 2009 State Games of America, held in conjunction with the Rocky Mountain State Games on August 1st, is now open.  Refer to the Event Schedule for a link to that website.

Waivers for both the Denver Buddhist Temple and Denver Judo sessions are available on the Kan Geiko announcement page.  It will save time if these waivers are printed out and signed in advance of arriving at those sessions.

The OTC Judo Club has scheduled a tournament for May 9, 2009.  Details will be forthcoming.

CJL 2009 Kan Geiko “Winter Training” has been scheduled for Monday, February 2, 2009 through Friday, February 6th.  Kan Geiko is an annual event where judoka from around Colorado get the opportunity to train with many of the local clubs.  Judoka of all ages and experience levels are welcome!  Complete Schedule/Locations/Contacts.

A revised entry form for the 2009 Kickoff Tournament is posted.  Revisions/Clarifications/Reminders are as follows:
1) Definition of Novice is modified;
2) There will be no registration at early weigh-in.  Athletes must either mail in their entry form and fees or bring them to the tournament;
3) Divisions 8yrs and under will be co-ed (boys AND girls combined.)
