2009 CJL All-Star Selection Criteria

The following are the criteria adopted by the CJL Coach Commission for selection of the 2009 All Start Team. The 2009 Team will be selected based on the athletes' performances at tournaments in 2008.

Please be aware that there may be periodic refinements to these criteria throughout the year. The commission hopes to post a running "statistics" list on the CJL website so that everyone can view their position throughout the year.

2009 CJL All-Star Team Selection Criteria
(to be selected based on performances in 2008)

1) To be eligible, candidates MUST participate in a minimum of 70% of CJL sanctioned tournaments. Credit will be given when there is a conflict with a regional or national level tournament.

2) Points will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners according to the tables below. At the end of the year, having met the 70% criteria for participation in CJL tournaments, the athletes with the 10 highest point totals will be selected for the 2008 CJL All-Star Team. No points will be awarded to athletes in the novice divisions although, credit will be given for attending a CJL tournament. This requirement provides incentive for athletes to move beyond the novice divisions.

3) For CJL Level Tournaments, highest points earned at 8 of the 9 CJL tournaments will be counted towards the athlete's points total. Athletes competing at the senior level will be awarded more points. When entering multiple categories or divisions, only the highest points earned will be counted.

4) For Regional tournaments, the resulting points from the single BEST showing will be counted towards the athletes points total. Athletes competing at the senior level will be awarded more points.

5) For Junior Level National level tournaments, the resulting points from the single BEST showing will be counted towards the athlete's point total.

6) For Senior Level National tournaments, the resulting points from the single BEST showing will be counted towards the athlete's point total.

7) If there is a tie in total points at the end of the year, the following order of tie breakers will be followed:

A) The athlete with the highest number of points from national level senior tournaments will be slected.
B) The athlete with the highest points from national level junior tournaments will be selected.
C) The athlete with the highest points from regional tournaments will be selected.
D) The athlete with the highest level of participation in CJL sanctioned tournaments will be selected.
E) If there is still a tie, the 5 members of the CJL coaching committee will take a vote.
