The
following are the results for the 2005 U.S. Judo Federation Junior National Judo
Championships held at the Bren Center, University of California at Irvine last
weekend. Over 1,000 athletes competed in the two day event.
Northglenn
Judo’s Kenny Hashimoto completed his Junior judo career at the event by
sweeping the 17-19 year old, 66 kg category, 4-0, and was named outstanding male
athlete of the event. Hashimoto
finished 2nd at this event in 1995 wince then has won this event 7
times: every time he entered. Hashimoto
is a two time Colorado State High School Wrestling Champion and was the
Alternate for the 2004 Olympic Team in Judo at 60 kg.
He attends the University of Northern Colorado on a wrestling scholarship
and was named male freshman athlete of the year for 2004-2005.
Northglenn
Judo’s Micayla Maes won the Female 11-12 year old, 28kg category for the 2nd
time in two weeks, having won the U.S. Judo Association Junior Nationals last
weekend. She will attempt to win
the coveted “triple crown” of Junior Judo July 23-24 at the USA Judo Junior
Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia.
