The following are the results for the 2006 Junior US Open International Judo Championships held at the Ft. Lauderdale Convention Center last weekend. 638 athletes
ages 8-19 competed in the event.  Christopher Cos of Elbert, competing for the OTC Judo Club in Colorado Springs completed a "grand slam" of junior competition this summer, winning the 11-12 year old, 28 kg division for the fourth time.  In round robin competition, Chris defeated the other four athlete in his division to secure the championship.  Last week, he won the gold medal at the US Judo Federation Junior Nationals, also held in Ft. Lauderdale, and he won gold at the USA Judo National Junior Olympics on July 8th, and at the US Judo Association Junior Nationals in Boca Raton, Florida on July 15th.  Chris joins teammate Alexa Liddie, and Northglenn Judo Club's Micayla Maes, Bobby Yamashita, and Kenny Hashimoto as the only Colorado athletes to complete the grand slam of junior judo.

Other Colorado athletes who won medals at all four events were Micayla Maes, Wheat Ridge/Northglenn Judo, gold, silver, gold, gold, Keith Beauvais, Thornton/Northglenn Judo, bronze, silver, bronze, bronze, and Jose Cos IV, Elbert/OTC Judo, silver, gold, silver, gold.
