Change for last session of Junior
Judo Camp: The last session of the
Camp is changed to SUNDAY, JULY 13th (from Saturday, July 12). The morning
conditioning session form 10:30am to 12:30am will still be at Westminster
City Park Recreation Center at 10455 Sheridan Blvd (NW corner of 104th
Avenue and Sheridan) and the Judo session will be back at Northglenn
Recreation Center at 11801 Community Center Drive Northglenn, Colorado
80233, 2:45 PM to 4:45 PM.

CJL is saddened to
report that Mr. Frank Fullerton passed away last evening in Providence Hospital, El Paso, Texas,
due to cardiac complications. Mr.
Fullerton was the first president of USA Judo, at a time when the
organization was called United States Judo, Inc. and served in that
capacity for 16 years, leaving office in 1996. He was Sport Director of the Pan American
Judo Union at the time of his death.

Last minute change for THIS Saturday Junior
Judo Camp.
The Judo Practice will be at Hyland
Hills Judo Club from 3:15pm to 5:15pm. Address: 9165 Lowell Blvd
Unit #D, Westminster, CO 80030; The morning conditioning session form
10:30am to 12:30am does not change. It will still be at
Westminster City Park Recreation Center at 10455 Sheridan Blvd (NW corner
of 104th Avenue and Sheridan). Do
not forget to bring lots of water, looks like Saturday is going to be a
very warm day! And do not forget to tell your coach to bring his running
shoes! The soccer game will be Juniors against Coaches!

Modifications/additions to the Front Range Judo
Tournament have been announced:
1. The Tournament is extending the registration
deadline to May24th (postmark) to accommodate requests by numerous individuals.
2. There will be a prize (judo gi, Mizuno bag)
for the 2 clubs who have the most participations at the tournament (host
clubs will be excluded).
3. For exhibition and team matches, the time
match system will be used instead of just an Ippon match. Details here.

Updates and Reminders for the
Northglenn Championship:
1.
Registration/Check-in/Weigh-in
is on Friday 3-9 PM at the Tournament Headquarters hotel, the Ramada Plaza,
120th Ave. and I-25, just north of the Northglenn Recreation Center.
There will be NO WEIGH-IN on Saturday.
2.
Athletes who have
already sent in registration materials must check in with tournament
officials at the Hotel, obtain their weigh-in card, and then proceed
to weigh-in.
3.
Athletes who are
registering for the first time must fill out all paperwork, obtain
appropriate signatures, and pay the entry fee before proceeding to
weigh-in.
All Athletes should bring their membership cards for verification.
Athletes who hold Black Belt rank should bring proof of rank.
Coaches who sign the non-black-belt waiver for their students should also
bring proof of their own black belt rank.
4.
Coaches should
check-in during the 3-9 PM period at the Ramada Plaza in order to receive
credentials that will provide free admission to the tournament site
and privileges to sit in the coaching chairs at mat side. Only
coaches who have checked in with tournament officials will be allowed to
coach mat side. Credentials can also be obtained at the 8:30
AM coaches meeting at the tournament site. ALL COACHES should
attend this meeting in order to be briefed on rules and procedures in
effect at this event.
5.
There will be a
Referee Seminar conducted by national and international referees on Friday
evening, 6-8 PM in the Mountain View room of the Northglenn Recreation
Center (adjacent to tournament headquarters.)

DON'T FORGET!!
Northglenn Judo Club's 40th Annual Tournament will take place this coming
weekend. Registration and Weigh-in occur on FRIDAY, April 25th, 3-9
PM at the Ramada Plaza, 120th and I-25. Referee Clinic Friday evening
6-8 PM. Tournament starts at 9 AM on Saturday morning.
Adult Elite competition will begin at 1 PM. Free party following the
event at the Northglenn Recreation Center.

CJL offers its sincere
condolences to the Okamoto family upon learning of the passing
of Reverend Okamoto's mother. She was an active supporter in the Japanese
Community, living in the 'Little Tokyo' area of Los Angeles.
Services will be held next week in Los Angeles. Details are pending, but we
will follow up with more information when it becomes available.

OTC Judo Club is pleased to
announce that Danieska Carrion, two-time World Medalist from Cuba, will
conduct a clinic the night before the OTC Winter Classic. The clinic
will take place on Friday night from 5:00p.m. – 7:00p.m at the OTC in
Colorado Springs and is FREE of charge to all teenagers/adults who
are competing in the tournament and are USA Judo members.
